DAS play

Related terms

• DAS →

The delay after holding left or right before automatic horizontal repetition starts. The first sideways step happens immediately; ARR governs subsequent repeats. Very low DAS can make unintended movement easier.

• Hypertapping →

Rapid repeated directional button presses instead of waiting for DAS. Used in classic NES play to move pieces faster than the built-in repeat, particularly when gravity leaves little time.

• Rolling →

A classic NES input technique using sequential finger motion, often against the back of the controller, to generate rapid directional presses. It bypasses waiting for autorepeat; it does not alter the game's rotation rules.
