  The time a grounded piece can remain controllable before it locks. Movement or rotation may reset the timer according to the rules, usually with a limit.

• Hard drop →

  Immediately drop the piece to the lowest reachable position in its column and lock it. You cannot rotate or slide it afterward; use a non-locking drop when a tuck needs another input.
